From sketch to production, Desloups provides coats that align with slow, ethical, and local fashion. Sustainability is deeply ingrained in the brand's values, and this Montreal-based company offers resilient quality and services such as adjustments and the addition of maternity panels, allowing their products to adapt to their customers' bodies.

Furthermore, Desloups even offers a circular end-of-life option for its products. For the past two years, the brand has provided a discount to customers who return their used Desloups coats. The returned products are then refurbished and sold in the store's Vintage section, providing a second life for the coats and enabling another audience to purchase them at a lower price.

Always with a focus on local sourcing, Desloups faces a limited supply of local materials. Virgin wool, a preferred fiber that adds durability to their products, is scarce in the local market. Since recycled wool doesn't meet the brand's quality standards, their alternative is to turn to RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) certified wools that prioritize animal welfare. Their ongoing research in eco-responsibility allows them to stay updated and explore recycled or locally sourced materials that could fit their sustainable offering.

Through education and collaboration with their customers and internal team, the brand promotes its circular economy. The company's environmental consciousness revolves around its locally-based production network, reducing the impacts of transportation. Their expertise is exemplified in their boutique, featuring a Vintage section that has been in existence for two years.

According to Isabelle Deslauriers, owner and designer, a crucial aspect of an ecological transition is understanding one's company well to offer eco-responsible services and options tailored to their customers' needs. Aligning actions with conveyed values is paramount, according to the designer. Desloups has new projects in the pipeline, including sourcing recycled fabrics for its parka collections, with the aim of further reducing its environmental impact.
