Veinage is a leader in eco-responsibility! As a creator of leather bags and accessories, 60% of their materials come from scraps obtained from various industries or end-of-batch remnants.
At its inception, Veinage solely worked with recycled materials. However, due to its success, the brand had to partially source new materials to increase productivity and meet the growing demand. These new materials are carefully selected based on their quality and durability. Veinage's bags are handcrafted, and the brand only uses environmentally-friendly products such as water-based adhesives and finishes to reduce its environmental impact. To enhance the longevity of its products, Veinage offers natural coatings for leather maintenance.
The motto at Veinage is to support the local economy. Through its sourcing and production, the company aims to contribute as much as possible to local commerce. Veinage offers bags made on-site in its workshop on Masson Street. The brand occasionally collaborates with companies and businesses that share a passion for Quebec fashion, such as Noémiah, Belle et Rebelle, and the pop-up boutique ANGLE MTL.
Sourcing materials from other companies' by-products requires great flexibility. Sometimes, Veinage faces a shortage of scraps, while at other times, large quantities become available. The variable accessibility to significant batches can be further complicated by storage challenges.
As a member of Synergie Montréal, Veinage is part of an initiative driven by PME Mtl Est-de-l’Île, which provides sustainable development and circular economy services across the Montreal area.
The creation of small, limited quantity batches has led to the development of capsule collections, rather than adhering to the "standard" seasonal collection schedule. This planning strategy offers more versatility and less stringent deadlines. Ultimately, this business model aligns perfectly with the company's variable sourcing.
With expertise in leather analysis, Veinage's internal team has developed skills in creating accessories that vary based on the size and thickness of the scraps. Veinage has grown from one to five employees since its inception, yet its growth continues to coexist with its environmental values and responsible practices. The company aims to continue its efforts in eco-responsibility and further raise awareness among its customers about ethical and environmental issues.
